William Halsey

Fuquay-Varina- William Edward Halsey, 80, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025. He was born on February 17, 1945, the son of Arthur and Grace (Rice) Halsey. He was united in marriage to Judith Kay Bearrows on October 10, 1970 in Rochelle, Illinois.

William was preceded in death by his father, Arthur Halsey and his mother Grace (Rice) Halsey, his daughter, Denise (Halsey) Moore and his grandchildren, Addison Clara Moore and Lucas Kenneth Moore.

William is survived by his wife of 55 years, Judith, his daughter Dawn (Brian) Swayney, granddaughter, Sara Swayney, his sister, Beverly Palumbo and brother-in-laws, John (Dina) Bearrows and James (Sandy) Bearrows. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

William served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Shangri La for four years. He was a supervisor for Del Monte Plant 199 until 1995 and then for Lowe’s Home Improvement until 2012. He enjoyed golfing, bowling, traveling and spending time with his family. He was a Master Mason for 50 years and a member of the Horicon Lodge #244 in Rochelle, Illinois and a member of the Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church in Fuquay-Varina, North Carolina.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at Fuquay-Varina United Methodist Church, 100 S. Judd Parkway. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Horicon Lodge #244 in Rochelle, Illinois or to the Denise H Moore Memorial Fund at the North Carolina Community Foundation.
