William Feeney, Jr.

William “Bill” Joseph Feeney Jr., aged 65, passed away in Miami Beach, Florida, on Friday, October 10.

Born and raised in Sea Isle City, where he spent most of his life, in addition to Miami Beach, Bill graduated from Ocean City High School in 1979 and proudly worked as a Sea Isle City Police Officer for 27 years, including several as Captain of Police, before retiring in 2007. He was a former President of the Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 7 chapter in Wildwood, a member of the Emerald Society, and held numerous jobs post-retirement, including security work for The University of Miami Hurricanes baseball and football teams, becoming a certified Krav Maga instructor, and working the doors at LaCosta and the Oar House in Sea Isle City in his most recent years.

Bill loved sports and shared his passion with family and friends. A massive Philadelphia Phillies, Notre Dame football and Miami Hurricanes fan, Bill loved traveling across the country with family and friends to catch games and explore new cities. He was also a youth sports coach who always emphasized fun, teamwork, respect, and sportsmanship over victories. He created a wrestling program and coached little league baseball in Sea Isle City, Babe Ruth baseball in Upper Township, and American Legion baseball in Ocean City. Several of his players continued to play college ball and one was even drafted. When not working and watching sports, Bill often enjoyed playing golf, taking his boat out, spending time in Miami Beach and with his buddies at the VFW in Sea Isle City.

Bill was preceded in death by his wife, Vicki (Freeman) Feeney; his parents, William J Feeney Sr. and Ann Feeney; and his siblings, Joseph Feeney, Maryann Feeney, and Eleanor (Paolino) Feeney. He is survived by his children, Christina, William III, Sean (Kaitlyn) and Brendan, his brother John Feeney, his sister Margaret Rossi (John), and grandson Santino Laquintano, all of whom will carry his message of being as proud of themselves as he was, being respectful to others, as well as his famous sign off: “Be smart. Be safe. Be careful.”

In lieu of flowers, the family requests any memorials to be given to the Wounded Warrior Project and Hurricane’s Heroes, two organizations near and dear to Bill’s heart.
