Ruth A. Lindsey, of Hawi, HI and recently of Newtown, PA passed away on Monday, October 13, 2025. She was 74 years old. Ruth was born in Sistersville, WV on April 25, 1951 to the late John and Betty Ruth (née Doak) Lindsey.
Ruth studied elementary education and economics at the University of Delaware and had a 40+ year long career in accounting, working in a variety of sectors, including medical, hospitality, airline, and most recently at Schilling Construction and the Kahilu Theatre. Ruth practiced Tai Chi for over 10 years, created a variety of arts and crafts, and had a real passion for reading and collecting books. She was a true student of life and was especially interested in learning about other cultures and traditions. She loved to explore on her holo holo days, get foot rubs, talk story, eat popcorn and to take time to enjoy the beauty of nature. No matter what she was doing, it was her goal to exude happiness and warmth to whomever she met. And above all, Ruth loved being a mother and a magical Nana to her children and grandchildren who will sorely miss her and her beautiful smile.
Ruth is survived by her daughters: Carolyn B. Copple (Eben), Maura B. Anderson (Cory), Michelle A. Doran (Nicholas), and is predeceased by her son, William L. Betty (surv. Jodi). She is survived also by six grandchildren: Arthur Copple, Maya Anderson, Nora Anderson, Charlotte Betty, Finnegan Doran, Oliver Doran, two step-grandchildren: Anais Huet, Jamin Huet and her brother: William Lindsey, sister-in-law Charlene Lindsey and is predeceased by two siblings: John Jay Lindsey and Carol Davidson.
Ruth will be laid to rest privately at Makefield Friends Meeting. A celebration of Ruth’s life will be held in Hawaii at a later date.
