Walter Jones
Walter Howard Jones, age 83, was born April 11, 1946, in Evergreen, Alabama, to the late Thom and Luvonia Jones. He was one of four sons who played a significant part in the family and community. On July 26, 2025, Walter gained his Heavenly Wings, leaving behind Cherished memories for those who loved him.
Walter completed his education at Ralph Bunch High School in Andalusia, Alabama. In 1960, after high school, he enlisted in the Air Force. While stationed at Seymour Johson Air Force Base, he met and married Ann Moses. He then led a fulfilling life traveling to various places throughout the country and world.
After 21 years in the Air Force, he retired and began a new career as supervisor at Cooper Bussman in Goldsboro, which he also retired from. In between those two adventures he built a beauty shop for his wife. His last adventure before fully retiring was to open his own auto repair shop.
In addition to his parents, Walter was preceded in death by his brothers John Henry Jones and Tyronne Jones, and finally his wife of 27 years, Ann Jones.
Walter’s Legacy will live on in the hearts of his family and friends. He is survived by one brother: Bobby Jones; one daughter: Rasa (Jerome) Turner of Richmond, Va; 3 sons, Bernardo (Shante’) Jones of Charlotte, NC, James (Ramona) Jones of Richmond, Va; and Mike-El Jones of Wilmington, NC; nine grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Though he is no longer with us, he will always be remembered and a great inspiration to all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will take place Monday, August 4, 2025 at 12 PM at St. Mark Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ at 700 W. Ash St, Goldsboro with Bishop Alton Smith officiating. The family will receive friends Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 4 PM – 5PM at Hamilton Funeral Home at 1220 N. William St., Goldsboro as well as Monday 11 AM – 11:45 AM at the church.
