Virgil Raines

Virgil Ray Raines, 82, of Tad passed away May 5, 2025 at Teays Valley Center. He was born April 12, 1943 in Charleston, a son of the late Ralph and Mary Harmon Raines.

He was a retired sorter at United Parcel Service (UPS), was a proud member of Teamsters Local 175 and loved spending time at his camp in Pocahontas County.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Clarence (Banky) Raines and sister, Margaret Raines.

Surviving are his wife, Monzella Shaffer Raines; son, Ray Raines of Charleston; daughter, Marcia Raines Clark of Elkins; sisters, Phyllis Raines of Charleston, Barbara Smith (Jim) of Milton and several nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Teays Valley Center for the excellent care, where he became friends with the staff from all departments.

In keeping with Virgil’s request there will be no services. Interment will be in Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, Cross Lanes.
