Victor LoBue

Victor Joseph LoBue passed on to heaven September 2, 2025 after a brief and courageous battle. Vic was born in San Jose to Sal and Tanie LoBue on January 26, 1936. He attended Sacred Heart Elementary School, graduated Bellarmine College Preparatory in 1953 and Santa Clara University, class of 1957. Among his classmates of all schools were many lifelong friends and family. Vic came to work with his father in 1957 and retired from the family business as president of Caldo Oil Company, San Jose, in 1996. Vic continued to share his bright and friendly personality with many clubs and organizations, including Civic Club of San Jose, Amici D’Oro, Sons of Sicily, Saratoga Men’s Club, Rotary Club of San Jose and as an active member of SCU Board of Fellows.

Vic, an accordion teacher at Campbell Music Center, met Marijoe Long, a dance instructor upstairs in the near building, during 1956 and they went out for a Coke. That was the start of their special life together. Vic married Marijoe on July 18, 1959 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Church, Los Gatos. Their parish connection remained strong throughout their lives, and beyond Marijoe’s passing ten years ago, through ministries, parish support activities and having their five children graduate St. Mary’s over the years.

Vic is succeeded in life by his children, Victor (Becky) LoBue, Jr., Stephen LoBue, Michelle LoBue, Therese (Igor) Vrablic and Joshua (Eleanor) LoBue. Vic is a proud grandfather of 13 and great-grandfather of 11. Family is important to Vic and he was constantly surrounded by so many of his family throughout the last weeks of life, and for all the years preceding.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass Wednesday, September 10, 2025 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Parish, 219 Bean Avenue, Los Gatos 95030. Viewing will begin in church at 9:30 A.M. A Rosary will begin at 10:00 A.M. with a Funeral Mass immediately following the Rosary. Entombment to follow at Santa Clara Mission Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation made payable to St. Mary Country Fair, in the name of Vic and Marijoe LoBue, 1979 chairpersons, as a general donation to the parish that has given this family so much for 66 years.
