UPDATE: Carson City structure fire sends one to hospital

UPDATE: Carson City Fire Department and sheriff’s deputies were called Saturday night to a structure fire on Joshua Drive near Kennedy Drive in the Northridge area. One person was injured and taken to the hospital.

The fire was reported after 9 p.m., with multiple fire engines responding. A Carson City Sheriff’s Office deputy arriving on scene said it was a fully engulfed fire and that evacuation of the home was in progress. An ambulance and fire investigator were also called to the scene.

The fire reportedly started in a garage and extended into living space with occupants inside. One person was removed from the home and taken to the hospital.

Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong confirmed that an adult male was taken to the hospital and an adult female safely escaped from the home. The fire has been contained.

The cause is under investigation.
