Treffley “Tref” Bourcier, age 91, of Kawkawlin, Michigan, passed away peacefully on August 6, 2025, at Huron Woods Nursing Home. He was born on November 22, 1933, in Bay City, Michigan to the late Joseph Bourcier and Lorna (Hall) Bourcier. Tref became a skilled trades journeyman, working for General Motors for 44 years before his well earned retirement.

Tref was a longtime member of the Eagles and a faithful Catholic who belonged to St. Maria Goretti Parish until its closure, later attending St. Catherine of Sienna, formerly St. Vincent De Paul. His life was full of rich experiences and simple pleasures. He loved camping with his trailer, ballroom and contra dancing, and especially dancing with his longtime partner, Shirley Keenan. Tref was known for his outgoing personality and love of people; he never missed a chance to get out for lunch, tell you he loved you – stranger or not, or spend time with his many friends and family. He enjoyed gardening, scenic drives, and spending time with his beloved grandchildren.

Tref was preceded in death by his wife, Eunice, who passed away 25 years ago, as well as his longtime girlfriend Shirley Keenan. He was also preceded in death by his brother Sam Bourcier and sister Roxie Fourcier, grandson Teal, grand baby Jenelle, and great-granddaughter Katelynn,

He is survived by his children: Treffley T.J. (Barb) Bourcier, Rennae Knaub, Trente (Kathy) Bourcier, Timothy (Kellie) Bourcier, and Leshia (Tony) Gonzales; stepchildren: John (Vera) McDonagh, Kathy (Frank) Rutledge, and Julie (Scott) Alarie. Tref is also remembered by his 9 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many beloved step-grandchildren and extended family who will miss him dearly.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, August 12 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Squires Funeral Home. A parish vigil will begin at 7:00 PM. The Funeral Mass will take place at 12:00 PM on Wednesday at St. Catherine of Siena, with Fr. James Wm. Bessert celebrating. Family and friends may also show for visitation before Mass from 11:00 AM until 12:00 PM. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Kawkawlin.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or as per the wishes of the family. The family would like to thank the staff at McLaren Hospice and Huron Woods Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
