All aboard! The Nevada State Railroad Museum steam crew has prepared historic engines for train rides this Labor Day weekend in Carson City. Families and train buffs are welcome to the museum this weekend to take a ride behind historic locomotives Glenbrook and Virginia & Truckee No. 25.

Train rides are from 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

The museum has been impacted by a network outage affecting virtually all of the State of Nevada’s IT systems since last weekend. Despite the network outage, the museum is open to the public 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. through Monday.

The museum, located at 2180 S Carson St, Carson City, offers some suggestions during this network outage: Phone is the best way to contact them at (775) 687-6953. Credit cards and cash will be accepted for museum admission and train rides. The museum store is only accepting cash or checks during the network outage.

The Civil War played a very important role in the history of the Silver State, after all, our state motto is “Battle Born!” If it hadn’t been for President Lincoln needing our votes to become part of the Union, we might still be part of Utah.

There may not have been any famous battles fought here, but trains played a significant role in the war by transporting troops and supplies, making them prime targets for ambushes. These battle re-creations will give you a new perspective on how these epic battles were fought.
