Thomas Miller

Mr. Thomas Lee Miller, age 72, of Jefferson, North Carolina, passed away peacefully on Thursday, September 4, 2025, at Margate Health and Rehab. He was a beloved father, brother, and friend, whose warmth and kindness touched the lives of many.

Born on May 4, 1953, in Ashe County, Thomas was the son of the late James and Lora Powers Miller. He was a devoted family man, and his legacy is carried on by his loving children: Kyle Miller (Nicole) of Elkton, MD; April Elliott (Marc) of Millers Creek; Ryan Hazel (Robert) of Wilmington, DE; and Julia Pontoriero (Kayla) of Cherry Hill, NJ. Thomas was a proud grandfather to four grandchildren—Madison Elliott, Macy Elliott, Greer Hazel, and Micah Miller—and was eagerly anticipating the arrival of another grandchild.

Thomas was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings: Arnold, Arlie, Avery, Austin, Bobby Clay, James Junior Miller, and Arlene Stansberry, and granddaughter, Lena. He is survived by his brother, Guy Miller (Margie) of Crumpler, and sisters, Edith Johnson of Grassy Creek and Betty Kerr of Ohio, along with several cherished nieces and nephews.

Tom was a proud, hard-working business owner & entrepreneur, founding his successful cable contracting company, East Coast Splicing, in 1988.

He loved spending time with his large family, NASCAR, the Philadelphia Eagles, all things Ford, long-scenic drives, and being the first one “on the road” before sunrise.

He was exceedingly generous, fair, proud, charming, funny, stubborn, and quietly thoughtful to all who knew him.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 20, 2025, at 10 AM at Boone Family Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Keith Casey and Billy Powers. Burial to follow in the Powers Family Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to the Powers Family Cemetery, C/O Guy Miller, 320 Guy Neaves Road, Crumpler, NC 28617.

Thomas Lee Miller will be deeply missed, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
