Thomas Beirne

Thomas Michael Beirne was a lifelong resident of Jersey City who passed away at the age of 79 years.
After attending Ferris High School, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corp to serve his country in the Vietnam war. He was the youngest member of his platoon in the 3RD Marine Division to achieve the rank of Sergeant and was decorated, receiving medals for his expert marksmanship in both rifle and pistol expertise.
While serving in the military, he married his high school sweetheart, Connie and they welcomed the birth of their daughter, Betty Ann one year later.
After serving in the military, he began his career as a long-haul double trailer truck driver working for Preston Trucking Company where he was the recipient of their prestigious Triple Crown Award for safety, excellence and outstanding performance.
Tom was a member of Teamsters Local 641, The New Jersey Chapter 151 of Vietnam Veterans of America, The Garden State Detachment #1273 of The Marine Corp League, as well as, Lafayette Amvets Post 33.
He was the beloved husband of the late Concetta Amorosa Beirne, devoted father to his daughter Elizabeth Beirne Ciarlo and son-in-law Louis Ciarlo, and very proud grandfather to his cherished granddaughter Concetta Ciarlo. He loved his time spent with his family
Tom was predeceased by his parents Catherine McManus Beirne and Charles Beirne, Sr and siblings Fr. Charles Beirne,S.J. and Maureen Beirne Streff; he is survived by his sister Eileen Beirne Hart, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Cremation was held privately. Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial gathering at St. Aedan’s: The St. Peter’s University Church on Friday, November 10th beginning at 9:30am with memorial mass and military honors to follow at 10:30am. Inurnment follows at Holy Cross Cemetery & Mausoleum in North Arlington.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to made in Tom’s memory to The Liberty Humane Society to honor his lifelong love, care and protection of his beloved pets as well as all precious animals.
