Thomas Bayerle

Thomas, “Tom”, or “Mr. B.” Joseph Bayerle, 88, of Cumberland passed away on August 4, 2025 at Cumberland Healthcare. He was born February 12, 1937 in California to Joseph and Jeanette (Schroeder) Bayerle.

After high school, Tom served his country in the United States Army, Marines, and Air Force. He then had many adventures before moving to Cumberland in 1970 with his soon to be wife, Marilyn Johnson. They purchased land near Big Sand Lake to build their forever home.

Marilyn and Tom were married in River Falls, WI on February 20, 1971. Marilyn preceded him in death on September 10, 2004.

Many may know Tom for the 53 years he served the Cumberland and surrounding communities through his business, Lakeview Upholstery. Tom was very passionate about his work – so much so that he made everything convenient for his customers, not convenient for himself. He was a dear friend to many and touched many hearts. His work doubled as some of his favorite hobbies, whether that be chatting in the shop while sewing, mowing grass, cutting wood, or working on and driving his cars and his Willys Jeep. He just loved to get outside, whatever that entailed.

Tom’s jokes and truthfulness will continue to be missed by his sons, James Bayerle and Thomas Bayerle; step-children, Jill (Dave) Zaic, and Daniel Lobstein (Eileen); granddaughters, Josephine, Jaymeson, and Skylar Bayerle; 8 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; sister, Judy Blankenship; and half-siblings, Mata (Brian) Zimpel, Joseph (Renee) Bayerle and Jesse (Dani) Bayerle; and many nieces and nephews.

Tom was preceded in death by wife, Marilyn Bayerle; step-daughter, Jodi Peters; parents, Joseph Bayerle and Jeanette Schroeder; half-sister, Bonnie Bayerle-Sinell; half-brother, David Bayerle; and brother-in-law, Don Blankenship.
