Theresa Lochinger

Theresa Lochinger, beloved mother, passed away peacefully while in hospice care on August 22, 2025, while holding hands with her son Frank and caregiver Beatrice. She was 84 years old.

Born December 24, 1940, she lived a full and loving life.  She was a devoted daughter, wife, and mother.  Daughter to the late Frank and Agnes Piegler.  She was married to her husband Karl Lochinger (Passed away on December 4, 2014) for 40 years and raised their son Frank. For 30 years, she cared for her mother Agnes that suffered from severe arthritis and osteoporosis.

Over the last eight months, Theresa battled terminal brain cancer.  She showed courage and strength through the surgery to remove her brain tumor, radiation treatments, and partial paralysis of her left arm and hand.  She fought hard through rehab to get back the strength she lost to be active and mobile.  She loved with all her heart, cared deeply for her family and friends, and spent most of her life in service to others.  Theresa enjoyed meeting family members for lunch out at restaurants, dancing, and going shopping.

Theresa is survived by her son Frank Lochinger, her aunt Theresa Mathis, many cousins, other family members, and countless friends.

Visitation on Wednesday, August 27, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Smith-Corcoran Funeral Home, 6150 N Cicero Avenue, Chicago, IL 60646. Chapel Prayers Thursday, August 28, 2025, 9:30 a.m.  from Smith-Corcoran Funeral and proceeding to Queen of All Saints Basilica, 6280 N Sauganash Ave, Chicago, IL, for Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. Interment Maryhill Cemetery, 8600 N Milwaukee Ave, Niles, IL.  For funeral info call 773-736-3833.
