The Salvation Army hosts Carson City car wash Saturday to benefit youth programs
- June 28, 2025

The Salvation Army Carson City corps will be hosting a car wash Saturday, June 28 starting at 10 a.m., with proceeds to benefit its youth programs.
The community is encouraged to bring their vehicles to the Carson City Corps — 911 E. Second Street — for washing and vacuuming and donate to support the cause. All donations are welcome.
The Salvation Army’s youth programs in Carson City include weekly outings, Vacation Bible School, away camps at Camp Del Oro in Nevada City, Calif., and more. The youth program also includes two weekly summer groups that provide a fun, safe environment for kids and a healthy lunch. Those meet Tuesdays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., and Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. A Back-to-School Block Party for local kids is scheduled for August 9 from noon to 3 p.m.
“We love supporting the youth here in the capital city by providing programs to keep them safe, learning and healthy,” said Captain Ernie Evans, Carson City corps officer. “Support and buy-in from the community go a long way toward helping us fund these programs, and we really appreciate how generous people here are.”
The June 28 car wash is the first of a series that will continue throughout the summer. The goal is to raise $5,000 to support The Salvation Army’s local youth programs by the beginning of autumn. Those who would like to support the programs but are unable to stop by the car wash can donate supplies directly from the youth program’s Amazon wish list: https://a.co/hMmymto.
