Michele Collings

Michele Yourell Collings, age 79, of Chicago, passed away on June 25, 2025.

Beloved wife of Larry; loving mother of Lisa Collings (Will Cleaveland), Darin (Tracy) Collings, and Jenny McLane (Ty Sanders); proud Mimi of Lili and Pierce Cleaveland, Megan and Jake Collings. Cherished sister of Jeff and Peter Yourell, and daughter of the late Harry “Bus” and Millie (née Evon) Yourell. Devoted dog mom to Boojie.

Michele attended Mother McAuley High School and earned her degree in Nursing as Valedictorian from Moraine Valley Community College in 1977, later completing a B.S. in Applied Science at Governors State University. She was devoted to her health care profession having been a cardiac intensive care and surgery nurse at Christ Hospital. She served as Oak Lawn Village Trustee (District 3) from 1983–1990 and was passionately involved in local, state, and federal elections. She was a lifelong advocate for justice and women’s rights.

She loved collecting and reselling antiques. Christmas was her favorite holiday — particularly visits to the Walnut Room at Marshall Fields and attending A Christmas Carol with her family.

In honor of her deep love for animals, donations may be made to Wright-Way Rescue in lieu of flowers.

Memorial Visitation: Wednesday, July 2, 2025, from 3:00–5:00 p.m. with a service at 4:00 p.m. at Curley Funeral Home, 6116 W. 111th St., Chicago Ridge. Private interment at a later date.
