Sweet Success: Carson City Families enjoy a night of fun with Ready to Rock Kinder

More than 120 parents and children joined the Carson City School District’s Early Childhood Department for an evening of literacy, creativity and community connection at Ready to Rock Kinder’s Museum Night, held June 24 at the Carson City Children’s Museum.

With the event’s theme of ‘If You Give a Mouse a Cookie,’ families were treated to an interactive and bilingual storytelling experience, enjoying the beloved children’s book in both English and Spanish.

Young learners made their own mouse-themed tote bags, embarked on a scavenger hunt to find sneaky little mice hidden throughout the museum and earned prizes from a treasure chest of goodies.

Each child took home a copy of the featured book, filled goodie bags and a sweet treat—chocolate chip cookies and milk generously donated by Model Dairy.

The evening was made possible through the efforts of many dedicated individuals and community partners. The district extends sincere thanks to Mary-Ann and the outstanding staff at the Carson City Children’s Museum, Tanya Scott and Alicia Smith from the Early Childhood Department and the talented educators, paraprofessionals and Early Childhood Education interns from Carson High School, led by Kendra Tuttle. Special recognition goes to Merri Pray, creator and administrator of the Ready to Rock Kinder program, for her vision and leadership.

“We’re so proud to partner with our community to make early learning unforgettable,” said Merri Pray, M.Ed, professional learning coordinator and family engagement coordinator. “Events like this create joyful, lasting memories and build strong foundations for school readiness and lifelong learning.”
