Suvarna Lyman

Mrs. Suvarna Priya Lyman, MA, B’Ed, MTh, wife of the late Mr. Priya Atluri Lyman.

Daughter of the late Pastor Kasa David, CSI Medak District. Teacher in Methodist Boys High School in the 60’s. Lecturer in Vanita Mahavidyalaya Girls’ College in the 70’s. Principal of Stanley Girls’ College in the 80’s, all in Hyderabad, India. Sister of late Mrs. Sunanda Bhasker Rao, Sumithra Simpson, Padma Rao David Kasa and Premsagar David Kasa in greater Chicago. Her sons are David, in San Diego, CA, and George, in San Antonio, TX.

Mrs. Suvarna Lyman was the eldest child of Mrs. Kuriamma and Rev. Kasa David, who served as a pastor and itinerant preacher in the Medak District. After finishing school at Wesley Girls School, Secunderabad, and a Bachelor’s in Women’s College, Hyderabad, she became a teacher at Methodist Boys’ High School. She married Mr. Priya Lyman in 1956 and had two sons. After working as a lecturer in Vanita Mahavidyalaya Girls’ College, she served as Principal and Correspondent of Stanley Girls’ College. Mrs. Lyman was active in the Centenary Methodist church in the Sundays School, the WSCS and in the Bible Society Women’s Branch in Hyderabad, India.

Mrs. Lyman is remembered affectionately by a host of relatives, old students, and friends.

Funeral Services will be held on Monday, August 11, 2025, with a Visitation from 10:00 AM until the time of the Funeral Service at 12:00 PM at Brust Funeral Home, 135 S. Main St., Lombard. Interment will follow at Chapel Hill Gardens West Cemetery, Oakbrook Terrace.
