Susan Massengill

Susan Marie Massengill, age 66, of Chillicothe, passed away on Wednesday, October 1, 2025 at Methodist Hospital in Peoria.

Susan was born on May 26, 1959 and six months later was adopted by A. Wayne and Mary Ellen (Bierworth) Massengill.

Surviving are her mother, Mary E. Massengill Potter of Chillicothe; her brother, Samuel W. Massengill of Chillicothe; and her niece and nephews, Kelsie N. Massengill, Tyler W. Massengill and Daniel R. Massengill. She was preceded in death by her father, Wayne Massengill; her stepfather, Dean Potter; and her brother, Dennis Massengill.

Susan worked is the mailroom at Foster and Gallagher for many years. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Chillicothe and she enjoyed drawing, especially Peanuts characters, and playing with her cats. Susan had a very sweet, kind heart and will be missed by all who knew her.

A graveside service will be held on Monday, October 6, 2025 at 11am at Blue Ridge Cemetery in Edelstein. Rev. Ron Martz will officiate. Memorials in Susan’s name may be made to the First United Methodist Church, 1023 N. 6th Street, Chillicothe, IL 61523. Arrangements are under the care of Weber-Hurd Funeral Home in Chillicothe.
