DOUGLAS COUNTY, Nev. – The Douglas County School District currently has five bus routes without a driver, and the district is looking for drivers to fill the gap. When staffed fully there are 38 routes.

Upper Kingsbury Grade parents have been informed that there is no driver for their students, so they need to take them to Kahle Community Center for transportation to school. This is the case for four other zones in the district, with those all in the valley.

With the need for five route drivers, DCSD is also looking for five substitute drivers and is recruiting to attract more drivers. According to the District spokesperson they will be using social media, creating ads, and other signage to fill the open positions.

The starting pay for new drivers at Step 1 is $23.77 per hour after completion of training.
