Shirley Miller

Shirley Miller, 94, passed away on September 9, 2025, at Dove Health Care in Osseo, WI.

She was born on February 17, 1931, to Lawrence and Emma (Erickson) Larson in Northfield, WI. She attended grade school in York, WI and was very proud of graduating from Hixton High School.

She was united in marriage to James Miller on February 26, 1949. They lived in multiple places in WI and MN. She was an excellent office manager and enjoyed bookkeeping. She took great pride in her managerial skills. At one time they owned a bar in Northfield and enjoyed building relationships with community members that have lasted many years. They also enjoyed travelling and once retired they spent summers in Garrison, MN and winters in south Texas. When they couldn’t travel anymore, they settled in Osseo, WI and renewed a lot of old friendships in the area.

She enjoyed knitting and gave many beautiful afghans to many friends and family members over the years. She loved going out to eat and go shopping!

She was preceded in death by her husband, James, her parents, and her siblings, Elaine and Ray Martin, Laurel and Doris Larson, Mavis and Ernie Mickelson, and Mary Lou and Marlowe Spurr, nephew, Michael Spurr and niece, Jeanne Kupla.

Shirley is survived by nieces and nephews, Steve Larson, Monte (Kathy) Spurr, Mary (James) Steele, Greg Spurr, and Becca Spur, along with many great nieces and nephews.

The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Dove Osseo for their wonderful care over the years she lived there.

The funeral service for Shirley will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, at Peace Lutheran Church in Pigeon Falls with Pastor Greg Oftsdahl presiding. A visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Following the service, burial will take place at Pigeon Creek Evangelical Lutheran Cemetery in Pigeon Falls.
