Shirley Ann Owen Frye, age 82, beloved wife of David Farrell Frye for 55 years, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 20, 2025.

Born on January 18, 1943, in Clark County, Shirley was the daughter of the late William Thomas and Dorothy Johnson Owen. She dedicated her professional life to serving her community, working 15 years at the Bluegrass Army Depot and another 15 years with the Daniel Boone National Forest.

A woman of deep faith and musical talent, Shirley was a devoted member of Trinity First Fire, where she joyfully sang in the choir and played piano for many years. Her warmth, grace, and unwavering love for her family and church will be remembered by all who knew her.

In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her loving son, Anthony David (Catherine) Frye; cherished grandchildren, Brooklyn Julieann, Owen Thomas, and Savannah Grace; and her dear sister, Louise (David) Pratt of Shelbyville, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Julie Ann Frye; and sister, Carolyn (Milton) Vermillion.

Service will be held at 12:00 PM on Saturday, August 23, 2025, at the Leon Pace Memorial Chapel, with visitation beginning at 11:00 AM until the time of service. Pastors Eric Patterson and Teddy Poore will officiate and burial will follow at Winchester Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Owen Frye, Ronnie Royse, Andrew Royse, Christian Ison, Brandon Pratt, Chris Daniel, and Rob Purvis.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Shirley’s church friends from Trinity First Fire, the nurses, aides, and volunteers from Hospice, and the many employees and friends of Rose Mary C. Brooks Place for their constant care, kindness, and support. Your love compassion has meant so much to Shirley, David and her son.
