Sharon Moore

Sharon Beth (Jones) Moore, age 65, of Marion, passed away in the early morning hours of her 65th birthday, at Marion Rehabilitation.

Born on June 20, 1960, in Mount Gilead, Ohio, Sharon was a daughter of the late Gerald Douglas and Rebal Lucille (Mullins) Jones. She graduated from Mount Gilead High School in the Class of 1978 and later earned her Associate’s Degree in Business from Marion Technical College.

Early in her career, Sharon was a supervisor at GTE/ Verizon in Marion. For more than 20 years, she dedicated herself to working at Meta in Marion, where she helped schools across Ohio implement and navigate educational software. Sharon also spent many years as a bartender at the Marion Moose Lodge, where she was affectionately known by her nickname, “Harleigh.” She enjoyed spending time with her friends at the Moose and the American Legion.

A passionate reader, Sharon was rarely seen without a book in hand. She especially enjoyed fiction, science fiction, and the occasional romance novel. She had a deep love for traveling and riding motorcycles. Sharon traveled all over the United States on a Harley and she cherished special trips to Bike Week in Daytona Beach, Sturgis and taking part in numerous poker runs.

Sharon enjoyed having a good time. She enjoyed live music, dancing and was quite partial to her Jägerbombs. She was a devoted Ohio State fan, liked being outdoors tending to her flowers and had a special affection for her dogs.

Those who knew Sharon will remember her as a vibrant, loving woman with a beautiful soul. She could be rather ornery at times and was a very social person. She was strong, hard working and oftentimes seemed to be able to carry the weight of the world on her shoulders.

Left to cherish Sharon’s memory is her daughter, Amber (Scott Busby) McDaniels of Batavia; three grandchildren: Sean Hanslik, Chloe Busby, Connor Busby; her sister, Vicki (Danny) Hart of Edison; and dear friends Beth and Jackie.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Dustin McDaniels; and her brother, Jeff Jones.

Sharon’s family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
