Caroline passed away May 26 with her daughter, JoAnn by her side.

Caroline was born on May 16, 1949, the daughter of the late Francis and Virginia (Bearden) Christensen. She attended Hugh C. Williams High School in Canton and Albany Business School.

She worked for the St. Lawrence County Department of Social Services for 35 years, the last 15 of which she was Administrative Assistant to the Social Services Commissioner.

Caroline is survived by her daughter, JoAnn (Maloney) Davis and her husband, Simon, and two grandsons, Jack and Harry Davis, all of Atlanta, GA. Her parents, a brother, Edward Christensen, and a sister, Louise Don, predeceased her.

A longtime resident of Goodrich St., she met her neighbor, Tom MacMahon, who had moved in across the street. They formed a long time companionship which took them to Port Saint Joe, Florida during the long North Country winters. For the past three years, Caroline cared for Tom who had become seriously ill. He moved into United Helpers Canton, in January of this year and passed away one week to the day prior to Caroline’s passing.

Caroline survived lymphoma during the height of Covid and was recently diagnosed with acute myeloid leukemia. She was hospitalized in Burlington, Vt. Her daughter brought her home and she passed a short time later in Canton-Potsdam Hospital.

She was a steadfast volunteer for Trinity Church where she served as volunteer secretary for 35 years. Caroline also served her community through the Beta Sigma Phi sorority where she had been a member since 1975. A dedicated St. Lawrence University hockey booster, she often traveled to Skating Saints away games and on one occasion was struck with a puck and required stitches!

Cremation was through the Lawrence Funeral Home, Canton. There will be no burial service.
