Sharon “Sherry” Feldmann Chavez, age 79, of Sheboygan, Wisconsin, passed away peacefully on June 13, 2025 at Sharon S. Richardson Hospice after a courageous three-year battle with cancer.
She was born on April 27, 1946 in Sheboygan, a daughter of the late Roland Feldmann and Phyllis (Sabourin) Phillips, and step-daughter of the late Richard Phillips.
Sherry attended Sheboygan area grade schools and graduated from Sheboygan South High School in 1964. Following high school, she worked for Sheboygan Comprehensive Hospital, Richardson Brothers, Bemis Manufacturing and most notably, as a Caregiver in nursing homes.
On January 7, 1967, she married William Zirbel, with whom she raised two children, Todd and Sheila. The two met at Sheboygan Comprehensive Hospital where they both worked. The family lived in Sheboygan Falls and in 1988, Sherry relocated to Tucson, Arizona. There, she met and married Alex Chavez in 2006. Following his passing, Sherry moved back to Wisconsin to be closer to family and friends.
Sherry was an animal lover whose passion for caregiving led her to raising chickens and fostering dogs with her husband Alex. She also enjoyed a variety of crafts, and loved to crochet afghans for her friends and family.
She is survived by: her children, Todd (Jennifer) Zirbel of New Holstein, WI, Sheila Zirbel Fermanich of Bartlett, TN, and Kyle (Casey) Gyuro of Cordova, TN; grandchildren, Alyssa (Kobe) Smith, Ranger Gyuro, Denver Gyuro, and Scout Gyuro; caregiver, Glenn Bell; and many other friends.
Sherry was preceded in death by: husband, Alex, her sister, Barbara Phillips and her nephews, Jeff and James Schmidtke.
Following Sherry’s wishes, no services will be held. Memorials are suggested to your local Humane Society in Sherry’s name.
