Sandra Stauffer

Sandra Lee Stauffer, born on June 9, 1938, in Traverse City, Michigan, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2025. She was 86 years old and had lived in the Bay Area since the late 70’s.

Sandy was the beloved mother of four children and is survived by: Cynthia Stauffer, Carolyn Meisenheimer, Valerie Stauffer, and Scott Stauffer, and his wife, Deborah Stephens Stauffer. She was a proud grandmother to four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sandy was predeceased by her husband, Winfield Lane Stauffer; her parents, John Ginther and Jesse Burns; and her only sibling, John J. Ginther, Jr.

Sandy embarked on a successful career with Travelers Insurance in her 40s, achieving financial independence through her hard work and determination. Outside of her professional life, Sandy was an exceptional master-level bridge player and a formidable competitor in any card game she played. She also enjoyed bowling, bocce ball and participating in her local Red Hat Society.

Her greatest joys in life were spending time with her family, tending to her garden, and passionately cheering for her favorite football team, the San Francisco 49ers – and attending Super Bowl XXIX.

A celebration of Sandy’s life will be held on Saturday, February 22, at 2:00 p.m. at the Walnut Creek Friends Church, located at 1950 1st Avenue, Walnut Creek, CA 94597.

Sandy’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her legacy of love and resilience bring comfort to all who mourn her passing.
