Glens Falls: Sandra S. Monahan, 74, died in her Glens Falls home on October 9, 2025. She was born in Sterling, Colorado. After graduating from St. Anthony’s School, she earned a Bachelor’s Degree from Fort Lewis College in Durango. Sandra met her husband Robert in Torrington, Wyoming while working at St. Joseph’s Children’s Home. After marrying in 1977, the couple moved to Glens Falls, where they raised a son and a daughter.

As a Head Start Director, Sandra supported early childhood education and family development. She later served as an administrator at Hallmark Nursing Centre, where her leadership and empathy made her a dedicated advocate for residents. Her faithful service to the Church of St. Mary’s/St. Paul’s in Hudson Falls embraced families through religious education and confirmation preparation.

In retirement, Sandra enjoyed walks with Bob along the Hudson River and Feeder Canal as well as sewing, quilting, cooking and reading. Spending time with her granddaughters was her greatest joy.

Sandra was predeceased by her parents Art and Evelyn, and siblings, Gordon and Sharon. She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Bob; son, Matt (Noel); daughter, Jill (Dan); grandchildren Emily, Allison and Felicity; siblings Marilyn (Bill), Mary Jane (Lanny), Steve (Denise), and Laurie; and many nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be at Singleton Sullivan Potter Funeral Home,407 Bay Road in Queensbury from 2pm to 4pm on Monday, October 13, 2025.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10am on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 at St. Mary’s Church, 62 Warren St. in Glens Falls. Interment will follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in South Glens Falls. Family and friends are invited to a celebration of life following the internment.
