Samuel Nelson

Samuel “Sam” Lewis Nelson, of San Jose, passed away on May 31, 2025, at the age of 19.

Born on July 26, 2005, in San Jose, California, Sam was a bright and dedicated student at the University of California Merced, where he was achieving excellent grades. Wanting to help others, he was majoring in psychology.

Sam cherished his friends and family dearly. He loved visiting his grandparents, David and Elisabeth Nelson, and playing with his cousins Nathaniel, Joshua, and Jonathan, the sons of aunt Jennifer and uncle Nick Pappani. Sam truly enjoyed spending time with his friends, and playing online video games with them whenever he could. He was always there to lend a helping hand when a friend needed something. Sam had a great fondness for animals, especially his beloved cat, Simba. He was a kind and affectionate soul who will be remembered for his fun-loving, gentle spirit.

Sam is survived by his loving family: his father, Michael Nelson; his mother, Leila Turner-Scott; and his step-father, Angus Scott.

Sam was dearly loved and he will always be missed.
