Roy Mitchell, Sr.

On Easter Monday heaven gained an angel. With a heavy heart we lost a Great husband of 66 years, dad, grandpa, great grandpa, brother, uncle and friend.

Roy S. Mitchell, Sr., age 88, of Cranberry Twp, passed away on April 21, 2025. Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on January 27, 1937, he was the son of the late Francis J. and Mary E. (Prentice) Mitchell.

Along with his parents, Roy was preceded in death by his son, Roy S. Mitchell, Jr.; and his siblings, Alquin Mitchell, Francis Mitchell, Harry Mitchell, Ray Mitchell, Joan Fogel, and Catherine Wilson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Diana (Hill) Mitchell; his children, Joyce (Dan) Strickler and Randy (Vicky) Mitchell; his siblings, Margie Stevens, Linda Damian, and Robert Mitchell; his grandchildren, Rachel Shurina, Chelsea Vickless, Brett Mitchell, Brandon Mitchell, Kristen Vickless, and Alaina (Evan) Jones; and his great-grandchildren, Delanie, Noah, Benjamin, and Keaton.

Roy was the owner and founder of Mitchell Auto Service Station in McCandless, where he served the community for many years. He coached baseball and football teams in the 70’s. He was a fan of all Pittsburgh sports. He also loved to golf for many years.

He could make anyone laugh and feel welcome. Roy really enjoyed trips to the beach as well as ocean cruises. Most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family.

Roy will be greatly missed and loved by all who knew him, including his fur babies.
