Ronnie Gillespie

Born on September 30th, 1969, in Atlantic City, New Jersey, Ronnie brought light and laughter to this world from the very beginning. He attended Atlantic City High School, where he first began forming the connections and values that would shape his life—loyalty, laughter, love, and a sense of community.

Ronnie was preceded in transition by James Humphrey and Sarah Kelsic, and sister Crystal Gillespie and while we mourn their absence, we take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with them.

Ronnie leaves behind a legacy of love and joy. His longtime companion, Cheryl Hart, stood by his side through life’s ups and downs. He is also survived by his brother, Anthony Gillespie. He was a proud and devoted father to his children, Shaniqua Gillespie and Ronnie Gillespie Jr. His eyes lit up at the mere mention of his grandchildren—Nasir, Anisa, Zaire, and Zara. They were the light of his life, and he poured his heart into every moment he spent with them.

He also held a special place in the hearts of his many nieces, nephews, and extended family. To know Ronnie was to be embraced by his warmth, his humor, and his unwavering kindness.

Professionally, Ronnie made his mark as a food and beverage server at AC Diner and Margaritaville. But to say he just served food would be selling him short. He served joy, conversation, and laughter to every customer who sat at his table. His big, loving personality made people feel seen, welcomed, and appreciated. His regulars weren’t just customers—they were family.

Ronnie loved the simple pleasures in life: spinning old school music, playing video games, riding his bike through the city, and rooting for his beloved Pittsburgh Steelers on game day. These weren’t just hobbies—they were the things that kept his spirit young, his heart full, and his smile wide.

Ronnie transitioned from this world on May 31st, 2025, but he leaves behind a legacy that will live on in each of us. In every soulful song, every Steelers touchdown, every laugh shared over dinner, Ronnie will be there.

Though he is no longer with us in the physical world, his spirit will forever ride beside us—strong, vibrant, and full of life. He will be missed deeply, but he will never be forgotten.

Rest in peace, Ronnie. We love you always.

Lovely submitted,

The Family
