Ronald Kelly

Ronald J. “Ronnie” Kelly, 69, of Woodstock, IL, formerly of Momence, IL, passed away on Sunday, August 17, 2025, unexpectedly at home. He was born on January 21, 1956, in Blue Island, IL, the son of James “Jim” and Marie Jadkowska Kelly. He married his high school sweetheart; Michelle Therien on September 30, 1983, in Momence, IL at the St. Patrick Catholic Church. She survives.

He is survived by his wife; Michelle Kelly of Woodstock, IL. His two daughters; Lauren Kelly and Jaclyn Kelly, both of Woodstock, IL. His sister; Candace Clark of Momence, IL. Also surviving are four grandchildren; Audrina, Vinny, Ally and Nora. His nieces and nephews; Jason Kelly, Jeffrey Kelly, Samantha Kelly and Kelly Rose Clark.  He is preceded in death by his parents, and his two brothers; Thomas Kelly and Kevin Kelly.

After graduating from Momence High School in 1974, Ron began his 42- year railroad career with the Milwaukee Road Railroad, later working for The Soo Line Railroad and METRA. He was a proud and dedicated member of Local 1258, where he served as Local Chairman and was a respected advocate for his fellow railroaders. He will be remembered for his dedication and leadership and was loved by the passengers he served each day. For him, the railroad was more than a job – it was a way of life.

Ron had a love for old cars and found peace in the outdoors, especially in his garden. He enjoyed watching old westerns in his retired days and was a lifelong sports fan who loved watching football and cheering for his Minnesota Vikings. Most of all, his world revolved around his grandchildren. He took great joy in watching his grandchildren play sports and cherished every moment with them. As a devoted father and grandfather, his greatest joy was simply being with his family. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family and all who knew him.
