Robin Scanlon

Robin “Gaga” Scanlon, born on August 31, 1939, passed away surrounded by stories, laughs, and love on July 18, 2025, in Bethesda, Maryland. Robin was a proud graduate of Zanesville High School in Zanesville, OH. After a brief stint at Ohio State University, she moved to Washington, D.C., where she met and married the love of her life, Tom Scanlon. Together, they navigated life with love, humor, and an unbreakable bond until Tom’s passing.

Robin’s legacy is carried on by her loving children: Kim (Greg Clark), Diana (Rick Bernhardt), Erin (Doug Yeatman, deceased), and Sean Scanlon. She was “Gaga” to 12 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren (with one more on the way!)

She is also remembered with love by her brilliant brother, Dr. Andrew Axline (Joan) and her cherished baby sister, Kristine Swedlund (Jon) who brought joy and laughter to her life.

She shared a lifelong, laughter-filled bond with her beloved group of girlfriends affectionately known as “The Hot Flashes” whose friendship remained a constant source of strength, mischief, and joy throughout the years.

Robin was spirited and a force to be reckoned with, both on and off the tennis court. She was a skilled and avid bridge player. The beach was her sanctuary, and her love of oysters and Cutty Sark was the secret to a life well lived.

As we say our goodbyes to Gaga, let’s honor her memory by carrying on with her cherished traditions like beach days, cocktails, bridge games, and holiday gatherings being lovingly carried on by the next generation.

A private memorial will be held for family. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to Surfrider foundation.
