Roberta Horsewood

Roberta Louise Horsewood, age 95, passed away peacefully at The Homeplace of Midway on August 30, 2025. She was born in Indiana on December 3, 1929. On January 25, 1951 she married Wayne A. Horsewood in Kendallville, Indiana. They spent 60 wonderful years together until his death in 2011. During their years together they lived in Indiana, New York and Florida before she moved to Kentucky after his death to be near Dedre. Before moving to Homeplace earlier this year, she enjoyed 7 years at Daisy Hill Senior Living.

Left behind to reflect on beautiful memories are her daughters, Renae (Leonard) Clevenger in Michigan and Dedre VanHoose of Versailles, as well as grandson Benjamin Smith of Lexington. Also surviving are a brother-in-law, sisters-in-law and several nieces and nephews. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her son-in-law, Michael VanHoose, her parents, two sisters and three brothers and their spouses, and two brothers-in-law and their spouses.

Roberta and Wayne loved to travel, and their adventures took them all over the United States and to many places around the world. Roberta will be remembered as someone with strong faith, a deep love for her family, and always available to help, especially at church. She loved meeting people and had a knack for putting them at ease and feeling they had known each other for a long time.

A Celebration of Life will be held at Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home, 161 Broadway in Versailles on Friday, September 12. Visitation is 10am-11am and the service will follow at 11am.

We mourn our loss but celebrate her arrival in heaven and reunion with Wayne.
