Rita Gonzales

Rita Cosio Gonzales was born on December 26, 1939, to Guadalupe and Gregorio Cosio in Brawley, California. She moved to San Jose and married Albert Gonzales. Together, they had three children.

Rita attended San Jose City College and eventually became a Teacher’s Aide for migrant children at Franklin Mckenily School District. She later enrolled at San Jose State University to pursue a degree in education but chose to leave her studies to care for her father. In 2000, Rita and Albert retired and moved to an almond ranch in Ceres, California, where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

Rita had a deep love for Mariachi music and found joy in cooking for her family and friends. She helped raise her grandchildren and was known for caring for others throughout her life. A proud Catholic, she faithfully attended Mass with her grandchildren.

Rita passed away peacefully on Friday, May 23, 2025, surrounded by her loved ones in Ceres, California. Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her. She is survived by her sisters, Lupe and Marilyn, her children, Christine, Gregory, and Ramon, and her grandchildren, My Raquel and Albert.

Rita will be greatly missed. Forever in our hearts, may her soul rest in eternal peace.
