Richard Pultorak, age 79, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2025. Born in Chicago on July 23, 1946, he was the beloved son of the late Mathew and Helen Pultorak.
Rich grew up in Chicago and was drafted into the U.S. Army on his 21st birthday, serving honorably in South Korea during the late 1960s. After his military service, he returned to work at National Food Store, where he met the love of his life, Janet (Sakai) Pultorak.
Rich had a deep love for music—especially Elvis Presley and Tina Turner—and enjoyed both action movies and live musicals. He was an avid traveler, with a special fondness for Las Vegas, where he delighted in table games, slot machines, and live shows. A lifelong sports fan, Rich proudly cheered on the Chicago Bears and White Sox.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 37 years, Janet; his brother Sid (Pam) Pultorak; and his cherished nieces and nephews: Matt Pultorak, Scott Pultorak, Sue (Mike) Stonequist, and Cyndi (Matt) Ozimek. He will also be lovingly remembered by extended family Sharon Kilkenny, wife of the late Harry Sakai, and Kathleen Kilkenny, as well as many dear cousins, friends, and neighbors.
Rich was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Mick Pultorak; his brother-in-law, Harry Sakai; and his sister-in-law, Peggy (Mike) Waters.
Rich will be remembered for his warmth, humor, and the joy he brought to those around him. He will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Visitation Thursday, July 31st, 9:00 am at Colonial Wojciechowski Funeral Home 8025 W. Golf Rd. Niles, IL. (1/2 mile East of Milwaukee Ave.) Prayers will begin at 10:15 am at the funeral home and proceeding to St. Stephen Catholic Church 1280 Prospect Ave. Des Plaines, IL. Mass of the Resurrection 11:00 am. Interment St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery 6800 N. Milwaukee Ave. Niles, IL.
