Richard Kimble

Richard Thomas Kimble passed away unexpectedly but peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, June 15, at his home in Vista, which he shared with his beloved wife, Nuva.

Born on March 13, 1949, in rural Jefferson County, Ohio, to Fred and Dessie Kimble, Richard was a true boy from the hills who loved nothing more than fishing, hunting, and exploring the great outdoors.

Life led him west to Vista, where fate and God introduced him to Nuva. For Richard, it was love at first sight, so much so that they married just five months later, beginning a beautiful life together filled with love, devotion, laughter and family.

Together they raised three remarkable daughters who brought him immense pride and joy – Belen, Aurora, and Violet. Richard also welcomed their partners Ian, Jordan, and Libby into the family. His greatest delight came later when he became Grandpa/Papa to Isla, Akai, and Kalai. He adored passing on his love of nature, teaching his grandchildren how to shape arrowheads, forage for wild treasures, and cast a fishing line with patience and pride.

Richard was a man of many callings. Over the years, he served as a firefighter, police officer, and, true to his hands-on spirit, spent most of his working life in construction. He was never happier than when he was building something tangible or crafting stories with his words. A passionate writer, Richard completed seven books, a testament to his vivid imagination and reflective soul.

At his core, Richard was a glass-half-full kind of guy. He always looked on the bright side, finding the silver lining in every cloud. He was the first to offer help to anyone in need, and he welcomed everyone with open arms, accepting people exactly as they were, no matter their story.

His adventurous heart recently took him to Australia, where he treasured two years of making memories with Belen and Akai, and he also spent cherished time in New Zealand with Violet. These moments were precious gifts that his family will hold close forever.

Richard’s love, stories, and gentle wisdom will be missed beyond measure.
