Richard Casey
- May 12, 2025

Richard Patrick Casey, 72, of Peekskill, passed away from cancer May 12 after a a rewarding life filled with family, friends and nature.
Rick was born in 1953 and raised in Pelham. He was a social studies teacher and worked at Pierre Van Cortlandt Middle School in Croton for over 30 years. Although passionate about American history, Rick would often say teaching students how to write, in order to communicate their thoughts and ideas, was one of his most rewarding accomplishments. Rick was an excellent writer himself and he had a large FaceBook following of people interested in reading his thoughts about daily life and current events.
He loved hiking Blue Mountain with his dogs, Bandit and Skippy. He returned from many of these journeys with backpacks full of rocks, each one carefully selected. The rocks were used to create a garden path outside his home, serving as a reminder of his wonderful days traversing the mountain.
His most cherished moments were those spent with his wife, children and grandchildren. Whether it was watching a soccer game, drawing pictures of animals or making milkshakes, he adored his family.
Rick was predeceased by his parents John and Eleanor, his sister Patricia and bother William.
He is survived by his wife Kathleen, children Patricia (Ian) Salon and Maura Casey (Christopher Pierrepont), as well as grandchildren Jenna and Jake Salon, and Riley Pierrepont.
Visitation will be at the Clark & Giordano Funeral Home, 2104 Saw Mill River Road, Yorktown Heights, on Thursday, May 15 from 4-8 pm. Services will be held at St. Philip’s Episcopal Church in the Highlands, 1101 Route 9 D, Garrison, May 16 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the March of Dimes; https://www.marchofdimes.org/
