Renee Ranke

Renee L. Ranke, 58, of Rome, passed away on Friday, August 22, 2025 at St. Joseph’s Health in Syracuse. She was born in Rome on March 8, 1967, a daughter of Donn and Georgia (Sofia) King. She was a graduate of Rome Catholic School. She was united in marriage to the late Kenneth Ranke.

Renee worked for BNY Mellon for several years. She was a member and minister of the Institute for Spiritual Development. She loved all animals but had a particular fondness for cats. She rescued several strays, brought them into her home and made them a part of her family.

Renee is survived by her father, Donn King; her brother, Donn King, II; aunts and uncles, Keith and Nancy King, Robert and Joan King, Lisa King-Smith, Michelle Boek, and Bonnie and Robert Martin; and many, many cousins. She was predeceased by her mother, Georgia; and husband, Ken.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, August 28th, at 11:00 a.m. at St. Peter’s Church 200 N. James St., Rome NY 13440. Interment will take place in St. Peter’s Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to call at Nunn and Harper Funeral Home, Inc., 418 N. George St., Rome NY 13440, on Wednesday, August 27th from 4-6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Renee’s memory to the Humane Society of Rome.
