Raymond J. Plante

1931-2025

Raymond J. Plante of Willimantic passed away at home. He was born on April 11, 1931, in Willimantic to the late Henry and Lucia (Grondin) Plante. He was married to Shirley (Bodino) Plante, the love of his life.

Raymond worked for C.C. Lounsbury for nine years and for CT Light and Power Company (Eversource) for thirty-eight years. He worked on a line crew for many years traveling all over the state. He was later promoted to Chief Lineman and transferred to East Hampton, where he stayed until his retirement in 1993.

Raymond was a life member of the Knights of Columbus joining in 1956. He belonged to the Knights of Columbus Council #14 and the Forth Degree Assembly #121. He served as Grand Knight and Financial Secretary.

Raymond and Shirley enjoyed traveling, exploring new cities, towns and countries. They traveled with their treasured friends Tim and Carol Killeen. Whether it was by car, plane, ship, or train it was always a special treat. They also took many trips with their son Roger and grandson Shawn.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his children Linda Foss (Steve) of Tolland CT, Keith Plante (Faith) of Putnam CT, and Roger Durand of Willimantic CT. Grandsons Matt Plante of Cheyenne WY, Shawn Durand (Laura) and great-grandson Liam of Columbia CT. Brothers Leo Plante of Middlebury VT and Normand Plante of Brooklyn CT. Brothers in law Joseph Bodino (Wendy) of Scotland CT and John Bodino of Shreveport LA.  Raymond was predeceased by his son Randy Plante and brother Roland Plante.
