John Walters

John Louis Walters, 92, of Satsuma, Florida, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on

Sunday, September 14, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.

He was born and raised in Charleston, South Carolina, to the late Alvin Walters and Ethel

Meyer. After proudly serving 20 years in the United States Air Force as a jet engine mechanic,

he and his family relocated to Florida, where he worked another 20 years as a diesel engine

mechanic with ComCar Trucking in Auburndale.

John was preceded in death by his first wife, Alice Earlene Walters; his sisters, Louise Brunson,

Alvina “Tina” Cauldwell, and Ruth “Tissie” Paul; his brother, Alvin “Bubba” Walters; and his

step-granddaughters, Angie Kennedy and Anndrea Kennedy.

He is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Judith Walters of Satsuma, Florida; his sons, John

Louis Walters Jr. (Jacki) of Alaska and Allen D. Walters of California; his daughter, Gwendolyn

Gonzales of Oklahoma; and his stepsons, Wayne Kennedy, Wade Kennedy, and Warren

Kennedy. He also leaves behind his grandchildren: John Louis Walters III (Caiti) of Florida,

Steven Walters (Melissa) of Texas, Richard Gonzales (Barbara) of Tennessee, and Alicia

Gonzales of Oklahoma; as well as great-grandchildren: Cannon Walters, Nolan Walters, Rose

Graycey, Avelyn Walters, Lilith Walters, Aeiol Gonzales, and Roeh Gonzales.

A dedicated servant of Christ, John worked tirelessly at Welaka Baptist Church, serving as

soundman, trustee, usher, and was lovingly known as the “candy man.”

Visitation will be held on Thursday, September 18, 2025, from 6:00 to 7:00 PM at Welaka

Baptist Church, followed by a service with Dr. Ken Johnson officiating. Interment will

take place on Monday, September 22, 2025, at 12:30 PM at Florida National Cemetery, 6502

SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida, with military honors rendered by the United States Air

Force.
