With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ralph Dean Rempel, 66, of Littleton, Colorado. He died from injuries sustained during a mountain biking accident. Ralph lived a life full of intellect, faith, and service, and his memory will be cherished by his family, friends, coworkers, and all whose lives he touched. We take comfort in knowing he is now spending eternity with Jesus.
Born in Henderson, Nebraska, on January 9, 1959, to Richard and Luella Rempel, Ralph moved to Denver at age two with his parents and sister, Audrey. Growing up, many of his summers were spent in Nebraska working on his cousins’ dairy farm, going on family road trips to national parks, and visiting relatives.
A graduate of Alameda High School, Ralph went on to earn his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from the University of Colorado, Boulder. After college, he began his career at Martin/Martin Consulting Engineers and devoted more than 40 years to the company. He worked on landmark projects including Coors Field Stadium, Chase Field, the San Diego Airport’s blast-resistant design, and the University of Colorado Anschutz Health Science Building. Known for his precision, perseverance, and teamwork, Ralph was respected and valued by colleagues across the industry.
Ralph lived out his faith not only through active service in his church, but also in his workplace, where he was always willing to help and serve his colleagues. He participated in numerous cross-cultural mission trips, including travels to Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic, Mexico, and Haiti, reflecting his heart to care for others above himself. He loved sports, and he was a devoted fan of the Denver Broncos, the Rockies, the Nuggets, and the CU Buffs. Additionally, he enjoyed playing basketball and softball in community and church leagues. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially hiking and mountain biking; and he had a passion for music, particularly Bruce Springsteen, the Rolling Stones, and Johnny Cash.
Ralph is survived by his daughters, Christine (Rob) Seawell and Amanda Rempel; his sister, Audrey Clark; in addition to extended family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Luella Rempel.
