Playful Jay is Nevada Humane Society’s Carson City Pet of the Week

Meet Jay, Nevada Humane Society’s Carson City branch Pet of the Week. This 1-year-old butterscotch-colored husky is a playful, sweet and goofy pup who’s ready to find his forever home.

Jay has been with us since late August, transferring to our Reno campus from WCRAS and later moving to our Carson campus for a change of scenery. After three brief adoptions, Jay is hoping his next family will be lasting and one he can finally call his own.

Like any young pup, Jay is still learning. He may do best with a family who can help him with potty training, household manners, and managing his anxiety when left alone. But what Jay lacks in experience, he makes up for in plenty of charm. He’s friendly, goofy, and loves to play! He’s lived with kids, whom he adored, and has gotten along well with other dogs. However, he’d do best in a home without cats.

On a recent outing, Jay’s personality shone. He explored Virginia Lake with curiosity, greeted other dogs with ease, and soaked in all the sights and smells. Back at his date’s home, he delighted in tossing toys in the air and pouncing on them like the playful pup he is.

Jay can be a little shy around new people, but with a slow and gentle approach, he warms up quickly. Once he feels confident, Jay’s all about scratches, cuddles, and showing off his silly side.
