Penny Parks

Penny Sue Rankin Parks, 67, passed away on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the University of Bluegrass Hospice. She was born on December 24, 1957, in Clark County, Kentucky, to the late Raymond and Iona Faye Campbell Rankin.

Penny was a devoted wife, mother, and “Mamaw,” whose greatest joy was her family. She had a caring heart, a joyful spirit, and left a lasting impact on everyone who knew her.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Al Parks; her son, Clifford Allen Rankin; and her brother, Ben Rankin.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Bonnie Parks, Melinda Parks, and Jessica Parks (Jon) Gough; grandchildren, Melaney Parks, Keith Boggs, KayLee Babb (Isiaih) Davis, Kara Babb, Ethan Gough, John Gough, and Evan Gough; and her cherished great-granddaughter, BrookeLynn Parks. She also leaves behind her siblings, Danny Rankin, Raymond Rankin, Henry Rankin, and Darlene Fels, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews who held a special place in her heart.

Penny loved life, whether it was caring for her family, enjoying her annual beach trips, or giving back to her community. She faithfully volunteered with a local church to help feed the homeless, living out her compassion through service.

Honoring her wishes, Penny will be cremated. A celebration of her life will be held at a later date.
