Paula Jean (Hitchcock) Bulka, 88, passed away peacefully on August 31, 2025. She was born on September 20, 1936, in Oshkosh, WI. Paula was the daughter of Warren “Hitch” and Alvina “Vi” Hitchcock. She attended Winneconne High School, where she was proud to have been on the Prom Court and asked to be Homecoming Queen. Paula played fast pitch softball and was the pitcher for the team. She was in Future Educators of America, the Chorus, and Library Club. Paula graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education. She had always wanted to be a teacher, which she did for 35 years. Most of her career she taught in Milwaukee, although she did teach for 3 years in Hawaii. Paula was a member of WREA and WCAREA during her teaching career. She was an advocate for Early Childhood Education. She was asked many times to give presentations to various schools around the state of Wisconsin about it. Paula was married in 1957 to Paul Andrews for 25 years and had two children, Perry and Patty. She was remarried to William “Bill” Bulka in 1984. Bill had 4 children: Timothy, Michele, Andy, and David. They were married 30 years until his passing.
Paula is survived by her brother: Richard (Carolyn) Hitchcock; son: Perry Andrews; daughter: Patty (Burnie) Bailey; step-family: Michele Schauer, Timothy (Theresa) Bulka, David (Cynthia) Bulka; 12 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and many other family and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents: Hitch and Vi Hitchcock; husband: William “Bill” Bulka and a stepson, Andy Bulka.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 11:30 AM on her birthday, September 20, 2025 at the Albrecht Funeral Homes, Milton. Private burial will take place at a later date. Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 20 at the funeral home from 10:30 AM until the start of the services. Following the services, there will be a luncheon at The Gathering Place, 715 Campus St. Milton, WI 53563. Memorials may be made in Paula’s name to Agrace Hospice.
