Paul Dooher

Paul S. Dooher, of Moraga, California, peacefully returned to the Lord on Sunday, January 26, 2025, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on July 25, 1966, in Oakland, California, to Charles and Elizabeth Dooher, Paul grew up in a close-knit family alongside his two brothers and two sisters. He earned a degree in Mechanical Engineering from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, where one of his proudest achievements was helping build the university’s award-winning Rose Parade float, a memory he cherished deeply.

Paul’s career in the medical technology industry took him across the world, from London to Hong Kong to Dublin-places he loved exploring. He was especially proud of his time at Abbott, where his innovations in the FreeStyle diabetes test unit earned him recognition. Paul also played a key role in relocating Abbott’s manufacturing facilities from China to Ireland, a transition that allowed him to spend more time in a country he held close to his heart. During these visits, he always made sure to see his beloved Aunt Phyl, strengthening his connection to his Irish heritage. He was known for his intelligence, quick wit, and generous heart. Despite enduring pain, Paul lived life with quiet strength and resilience, always bringing warmth and kindness to those around him.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Elizabeth; his brother, James; and his sisters, Catherine and Mary. Paul is survived by his brother, Brendan, and his wife, Svjetlana; his sister, Elizabeth, and her husband, Bryan; as well as his beloved nieces and nephews-Zachary and Catherine, children of Elizabeth and Bryan, and Lana and Charles, children of Brendan and Svjetlana.

A rosary and viewing will be held at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, February 5, followed by a funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 6, both at St. Isidore’s Catholic Church, 440 La Gonda Way, Danville. Paul will be laid to his final rest at Queen of Heaven Cemetery in Lafayette.

May he rest in peace in the palm of God’s hand.
