Paul D’Wayne Bridges Sr., 87 years of age of Dixon, Il., passed away on Tuesday, July 8th, 2025, in Mt. Morris. Cremation rites have been accorded. Wasmer Funeral Home is privileged to assist the family.

Paul was born April 4th, 1938, to Buena Vista and Mary Louise (Click) Bridges in Little Rock, AR. Paul was the only son and had four sisters Sioux, Juanita, Frankie and Marilyn that preceded him in death along with his parents Buena and Mary. Paul married Joyce Lynne Schroeder in May 1954, and five children were born from this union. Paul had two daughters Cynthia Louise Sheets, Carrie Lynne Kallas and three sons Phillip David Bridges Sr., John Elliot Bridges and Paul D’Wayne Bridges Jr. Paul was preceded in death by his wife Joyce Bridges in 2016 and his daughter Cynthia Sheets in 1997. Paul had 13 grandchildren, Casey Welch, Stephane Sheets, Nicholas Sheets, Jon Stevenson, Eric Stevenson, Cyle Stevenson, Danielle Knoll, Phillip Bridges Jr., David Bridges, Miles Bridges, Chloe Bridges, Alexander Bridges and Julian Bridges. Paul also had 14 great grandchildren, Alan Zimmer, Colin Zimmer, Bridget Zimmer, Jack Sarver, Gabby Sheets, Oden Sheets, Savanna Stevenson, Lula Stevenson, Briggs Stevenson, Karmen Knoll, Kendall Knoll, Graham Bridges, Ruby Bridges and soon to arrive in August will be Olivia Stevenson. Paul has 2 great, great grandchildren, Amealia Lynn Zimmer and Cora Jade Zimmer. Paul had many nieces and nephews.

Paul was a member of the Operating Engineers Local 150 for the past 59 years. Paul loved working in his garage on electric tricycles, electric cars, Harleys and always had something new he was creating. He had several patents.

Paul loved life! He always was a loyal old friend, but he welcomed making new friends. He opened a door with a smile and was known to buy your meal and always wanted to share conversation and a good cup of coffee, a new idea or a simple piece of chocolate cake.

Paul was known to live his life the way he wanted. Surrounded by people he cared about. Paul will be greatly missed. A private Memorial Service is planned for Paul.
