With hearts full of love and gratitude for a life well-lived, we announce the passing of Patricia Till Schoon, affectionately known as Patty, on September 10, 2025, at the age of 73.
Born on July 5, 1952, Patty lived a life marked by joy, resilience, and deep love. She was cognitively disabled, but her spirit was boundless. She radiated happiness and brought an unmistakable sparkle into every room she entered.
Patty was the beloved daughter of Warren and Lillian Schoon, both of whom preceded her in death. She was also lovingly raised by her stepfather, Roland Piske. Patty is survived by her devoted siblings: Gayle Stiener (Michael), Rodney Schoon (Cathy), Nelson Schoon (Sandy), and Gloria Gierach (Richard).
She is also lovingly remembered by her step-siblings: Lee Piske (Carolyn), Jill Piske, Beth Cripe (Mike), and Karen Ebert (the late Robert). Patty was preceded in death by step-siblings Dennis, Darrell, and Edward Piske.
Patty spent the first 53 years of her life in Lowell, Indiana, where she was one of the first participants at the Lake County Association for Retarded Citizens (LCARC), a program started through the passionate advocacy of her mother, Lillian. For the last 20 years of her life, Patty lived in Richfield, Wisconsin in a warm and loving adult family home, and she found great joy in attending Threshold in West Bend for many years.
Patty will always be remembered for her joyful attitude and infectious spirit. If someone was in the room, Patty was having a party. She was a Professional Joy Giver, and she truly captured the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Lessons from Patty’s life include:
· Poker chips and a Coke bottle can provide endless hours of entertainment.
· Be joyful in every circumstance.
· A little music can brighten every day.
· Smiles and laughter can give joy to all you meet.
Though her earthly journey has ended, Patty’s legacy of joy, love, and laughter lives on in the lives she touched. Patty, thank you for teaching us how to live with joy. You will be dearly missed and forever loved. In honor of Patty, memorial donations may be made to 3:20 Ministries, with “Patty” in the memo line.
