Pat Alkire

Pat Alkire of Galion, Ohio went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on November 3, 2025 at the age of 84 after a short illness. She was surrounded by friends and family.

She was born September 16, 1941 in Flint, Michigan to the late Howard and Naomi (Belcher) Sayre. She graduated from Iberia High School in 1959 and worked at GTE in Galion for 35 years before retiring to take care of grandchildren.

Pat was a loving wife to her husband of 65 years, Michael Alkire, who survives. Pat loved and lived life to the fullest and cherished her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. She cherished the holidays she got to spend with her family and loved to cook and bake for each and every one of them up until her passing. She enjoyed playing euchre with all her friends at the Golden Age Center in Galion. At the age of 56, and after many years of riding on the back of Mike and Pat’s Harley Davidson, she decided she wanted to ride her own. She went and got her license and for many years enjoyed riding along side her husband and son Lewis.

Pat is survived by her three children: Patti (Erik) Murray of Fremont, Ohio; Lewis Alkire of New Washington, Ohio; Tami (Brian) Schafer of Crestline, Ohio, Grandchildren whom she cherished: Ashleigh (Marcus) Demas, Haylee Alkire, Camryn Schafer, and Grady Schafer; Step Grandchildren Erika (Ethan) Begle, Emily (Zak) Smith, and Justin Murray, her Great-Grandchildren, Maeve, Laene, and Lincoln Demas; Myles Russell, and Colsen Schafer; Step Great-Grandchildren Aubrey, Serenity, Nolan, Lydia, Aaron, Ava, and Clara, as well as many nieces and nephews, and her two sisters – Dorothy Willet of La Féria, Texas., Dolly Brown of Dayton, Tennessee.

Also surviving Pat’s passing are very dear friends Randy and Joni Higgins and Mike and Sophia Watson as well as many other friends.

Pat will be joining her beloved chihuahuas Harley and Missy, while leaving behind her two cats, Sophie and Fluffy.

Pat was preceded in death by her brother William (Bill) Hunter and her aunt Miriam Sayre.

The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM Friday November 7, 2025 at Richardson Davis Chapel of Snyder Funeral Homes, 218 South Market St., Galion, Ohio 44833. A private family graveside will be held at a later date followed by a celebration of life.
