Ollie Burnis Smith, better known as “Ollie B”, passed away on September 12, 2025, at Marion Health. Ollie was born on April 20, 1945, to the union of the late Henry Neal Smith and Emma Smith of Brownsville, Tennessee. He proudly served his country in both the Unites States Army and the United States Marine Corps.

Ollie was a hard-working man who held various positions throughout his life.  He worked at General Motors Marion Plant, (Fisher Body), drove semi-trucks, and was employed by Snavely Machine Manufacturing Company in Wabash, Indiana. He also spent time working in Grenada, Mississippi. In his free time, Ollie enjoyed fishing, watching classic westerns, and especially spending time with his family.  

He leaves to cherish his memory three daughters: Nikki L. Smith Jones of Harker Heights, TX; Sununta Ward of Indianapolis; and Shamia Foster of Mansfield, OH; three sons: Monty L. (Tanya) Smith; Jamie L. (Nikki) Smith of Marion; and Ollie B. (Rachael) Ward of Indianapolis; 14 grandchildren: Terrance Smith, Crystal Smith, Monty Nelums, Raechelle Smith, Neven Smith, Tyree Smith, Sean Bryant, Jr., Jelani Smith, Tanaya Smith, Jehki Smith, Alyssia Ruiz, Mahal Ward, Ahsai Ward, and Derrick Foster, Jr.; 10 great-grandchildren; four brothers: Charlie and Bernard Smith of Mansfield, OH; Melvin Smith of Marion; and Benny (Betty) Smith of Anderson; three sisters: Mary (William) Green of Sikeston, MO; Gloria (Andrew) Broomfield of Marion; and Youlana Smith of Marion; a host of nieces and nephews; his loving partner of 15 years, Stacie Timmons; his bonus children, Jaron Simpson, Kia Timmons, and Jalen Wingo; and bonus granddaughter, Ariana Emory.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Emma Smith; brothers, Bill Smith, Wana Smith, Lewis Smith, Dana Smith, and Joe Smith; and sister, Dorothy Bounds.

The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 11:00 am on Monday, September 29, 2025, at Allen Temple A.M.E. Church, 3440 S. Washington St., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Ollie’s life will begin at 11:00 am with Rev. Tanya E. Smith officiating.  Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery.
