National Ride of Silence honors those who’ve passed, advocates for keeping bicyclists safe

Were you driving in Carson City Wednesday evening and saw multiple motorcycle officers and cyclists riding through the streets? You saw the “parade” and wondered what was going on?

Every third Wednesday of every May, there is a National Ride of Silence.

It is to honor the people who were killed while riding their bikes. There were 15 people that died riding their bikes in Nevada last year. This is tragic.

Cyclists need to be careful, aware and always use a helmet while riding.

Drivers need to look both ways, yield to the cyclists and share the road without impatience for the cyclist.

Muscle Powered puts this ride on every year to help both cyclists and drivers become aware of the lives lost.

Please join us on your bike next year. We would love to have you.
