NANCY MCKIM

Nancy Margaret McKim, born on May 1, 1946, in Missouri, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2025, surrounded by her cherished friends. A beloved figure in her community, Nancy moved to California in her youth, where she dedicated her life to nursing.

After earning her LVN and embarking on a career with the phone company, she transitioned to healthcare, working at various facilities including Scripps Hospital in San Diego. Her commitment to caring for others led her back to Contra Costa County, where she took on several roles, including at the methadone clinic and in home care. Nancy’s talents culminated in her position at the county hospital and ultimately as the charge nurse at the Concord Clinic, where her warmth and leadership shone brightly.

Known for her cheerful demeanor, approachability, and infectious laughter, Nancy had a way of making everyone feel special. She adored shopping and dining out, and her friendships extended far and wide. Even after retiring from her nursing career in 2010, Nancy remained deeply connected to her loved ones.

Though Nancy faced significant challenges following a stroke that left her wheelchair-bound and with expressive aphasia, her spirit remained undiminished. She continued to engage with her friends, maintaining her characteristic positivity and sense of humor. Her nightly phone calls to loved ones, always greeted with a reassuring “I’m fine,” will be profoundly missed.

Nancy will be forever remembered and cherished by many whose lives she touched with her kindness and laughter. Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her.
